More and more people are facing the problems of sugar addiction and food cravings. It is difficult to get rid of them, but there are solutions. If you are concerned, be aware that there are different factors that cause these uncontrollable impulses and that each cause must be addressed with an appropriate strategy. If you are tired of trying to get rid of these addictions in vain, discover in this article what kind of urges you have and what solution is best suited to your case.
Cause 1 : Sugar calls sugar
You often eat sugar, your body reacts with insulin secretion, which lowers your blood sugar level. The body then falls into reactive hypoglycemia and you have a strong craving for sugar again. You are in a vicious circle that gives you an addiction to sweets.
-Make a sugar detox. The first few days are difficult because you may have withdrawal symptoms.
-Start by removing sugar from coffee, yoghurts. Don’t buy any more candy or chocolates.
-Try to do every other day without sugar. Then 1 day out of 3. Then allow yourself a maximum of 1 pastry shop per week until you are no longer “dependent”.
Our tips to help you reduce sugar:
-Fill up with protein because it is very satisfying.
-Eat green vegetables at will (fibre slows down the absorption of sugars)
– Do not eat the fruit alone, take almonds and dairy products with them to reduce the glycemic index
– Drink plenty of water
– Do not take any sweeteners or light products as they contribute to sugar addiction.
– You can, if you wish, take a food supplement based on magnesium, chromium and/or berberine (3 months of cure) this helps enormously.
After a few days the impulses fade. After 3 weeks, the addiction may have disappeared.
Cause 2 : You have gut disorder
By consuming starchy foods too often or in too large quantities, you have overfeed this part of the flora that consumes sugar. A microorganism, Candida Albicans then becomes too present and you have bloating that appears.
Every time you eat bread, pasta, pizzas, cakes or flour in large quantities, your digestion gets complicated and your stomach swells.
This yeast, Candida Albicans, eats sugar (carbohydrates, starch, etc.) and requires more and more sugar. It becomes voracious and tells your brain that it wants more carbohydrates. You are then attracted to starchy foods and sweets.
This imbalance is called Candidosis .
-Stop feeding candidas by removing sugar, starch and alcohol. (See our tips above for removing sugar)
-Kill excess candida by consuming turmeric, coconut oil, garlic, cinnamon, essential oil of oregano and grapefruit seed extracts.
-Take probiotics to rebalance the flora and no longer have bloating and sweet impulses (take those containing L-Glutamine to heal the intestinal barrier at the same time)
Cause 3 : You have hormonal imbalances and stress
You tend to crave sugar when you are stressed, anxious, depressed…
You mechanically eat sweets without realizing it to calm an unpleasant feeling of stress or fear (anxiety, loneliness, boredom, depression).
This is due to a deficiency in your body of happiness hormones, such as serotonin and dopamine.
Factors that can lead to a lack of serotonin in your body:
-Deficiencies in iron, magnesium, zinc
-Deficiencies in tryptophan, the amino acid precursor of serotonin
Factors that can lead to a lack of dopamine in your body:
-Deficiencies in Tyrosine, the amino acid precursor of dopamine
-Deficiencies in vitamins of the B and C group, iron, magnesium, zinc
Eat Tyrosine-rich foods: bananas, avocados, nuts, dark chocolate, eggs and dairy products, among others
Eat Tryptophan-rich foods: meat, eggs, spinach, poultry, seafood…
-Have sufficient protein intakes
-Avoid stressful situations (overuse of resources)
-Have a healthy lifestyle with enough sleep
-Avoid drinking more than 3 coffees a day because it uses a lot of vitamins
-Detoxify the liver once or twice a year to ensure the metabolism of neurotransmitters (serotonin and dopamine)
-Have a good intake of omega 3, vitamin D, vitamin B9 (fatty fish, cabbage)
-If you wish, you can take a complete food supplement (3 months of multivitamin and mineral cure)
It is also possible that several of these causes may happen to you at the same time.
Proceed step by step to regain a healthy lifestyle and free yourself from your impulses.
Sugar addiction can cause great fatigue, depression, sleep disorders, acne, hormonal disorders (PMS, PCOS), weight gain, diabetes, headache, liver congestion… It is therefore important to fight it to feel better and be in good health.
If you think you may be concerned, it is best to do the test by doing a zero sugar challenge for 1 month and observe the improvements.
